Weird Mormon Stuff

I was up around 10, having told myself I could sleep all I wanted. I really need to make sure I get a full 8, or even 9, hours of sleep.

It's been dark and rainy all day. For hours it was heavy rain. The people in the welding place and I think the people down at the end, who are friends if not family, have a big tent set up, two porta-potties, and caution tape set up, blocking off the end of the complex for, as their sign says, "Christmas Party". Except there are some odd things about it:

First, it's *really* quiet for a Christmas party. Secondly, it's a good two weeks early. Thirdly, something I know but they don't know I know, about the welding shop people is, they're Mormons. I know this because a while back they threw out a bunch of stuff which I grabbed and went through, finding a fair amount of useful computer stuff to sell and some office stuff to use. I found stuff in there also, indicating that they're Mormons.

So whatever it is they're doing I figure is probably about half and half, Christmas-y and Mormon-y. I've been inside the big temple in La'ie on the windward side of Oahu, because it has to be re-consecrated every 100 years or something, and there was a period during which "Gentiles" could go in. So maybe Mormons have to do some sort of meeting-up once a year or something. Maybe it's something like a Tupperware party but for magic underwear...

The once and future cornet

The reason I dug the Connstellation out and replaced the errant screw and put in new water key corks is that last week I'd gone by Park...
