One sunny day

Wednesday. I've got one sunny day to do some shipping, then will be socked in for the rest of the week. This is all fine, except if I want the numbers to work out right, I need to deposit my pay check this week, rain or not.

I woke up around noon, thinking about this. I can walk and take the light rail downtown tomorrow, or I can just go on my bike as long as I go what feels like super-slow except it's really not. Going as slow as needed to keep from splashing water up on myself is still really fast compared to walking. And my bike being a "mobile shopping basket", means I can buy things and carry them home much more easily.

For some reason, due to indulging in watery beer mostly and spending in general, I'll be at -$90 in the bank so this week I'll be extra careful. The watery beer seems to have made my headache go away, but in place it leaves another problem which is that I'm drinking this watery beer. But if lack of hydration is the problem, and coffee and black tea aren't keeping me hydrated enough, I can just get some green tea or some fizzy water.

I'm trying to get my Big Island friend to cough up the email address of the guy who's got the antiques etc. He's making an impression on me of being one of those people who like drama. He says the guy and I ought to correspond directly, but then he refuses to give me the guy's email address, or, apparently, give mine to him, as I've suggested.

I can't make this bigger but it pretty much gives the idea: For some reason, a lot of people are moving from the best states and going to the worst ones. I mean, I'm going back to Hawaii because it's so much cheaper and nicer than anywhere on the mainland, but I've actually thought at times about NY, after all, the author of The Geography Of Nowhere, found Somewhere to live, namely Saratoga Springs.

Harvey Pekar seemed to be pretty comfortable in Chicago, and I even had some pretty serious thoughts about moving to Near Orleans or just outside it, until I realized there's an action-packed Rescue-911 type show with plenty of good old blood'n'gore, where all they do is send a film crew out with an ambulance there. An. Ambulance. And it takes a lot of video to trim down and get a good 45-minute show. But that's exciting New Orleans!

All I can think is, there are a ton of boomers who are Right politically and who have some house they got for next to nothing many decades ago and now it's time to cash out and buy a "big ol' spread" and not have to drive too far to get to the local Klan meeting. California, New York, and Illinois sure don't need 'em.

Anyway, I had time to pack 18 things and get 'em sent off and not get rained on. Horray for me!

Ken's called and said he won't be by tonight, and can "probably" come by tomorrow. It's supposed to be rainy all of the rest of the week, so I guess I'll ship what packages I can in the rain and will go to the bank on Friday, in the rain.

The once and future cornet

The reason I dug the Connstellation out and replaced the errant screw and put in new water key corks is that last week I'd gone by Park...
