3 Down, 1/2 up

On r/casualUK on Reddit, they got into a conversation on internet speed. This helpful map was supplied. The speeds are in megabits per second. So of course I had to run a speed test of my own, and it's 3 and a little download speed, and 0.5 upload speed.

This is why I don't put videos on YouTube, or post music anywhere, and only very seldomly post images on here. Although my internet speed is blistering fast compared to any of the public wifi spots that I've found.

This is internet in Silicon Valley, unless as I keep saying, you're one of the Kool Kids with solid-gold-cased iPhones with $1000 a month connect plans.

Just being online (while non-wealthy) is hard in Silicon Valley. I left my computer sitting too long so it went to sleep, and I was not able to get it to restart so I had to do a "hard" restart where I pulled the battery out and let it sit, battery-less, for several minutes then I was able to power it up again. It's really all my fault for not going to the Apple Store and buying the latest thing every couple of years like I used to do.

(In all fairness, it's possible to get a "new used" computer every couple of years, spending maybe $100-$150 per year to have a functional machine rather than that much a month to have the latest Apple. My problem is lately I use computers until they die.)

I listed 15 things and then took 5 things apart. Actually, two of them I just broke down into smaller parts, to take those smaller parts apart later. Maybe at my leisure while I sit inside all weekend because the weekend's going to be rained out.

I put lots of scrap metal out for the bums but for some reason they weren't around to pick up scrap metal in 35-degree cold. I also got some more parts off of a furnace the HVAC place left out. That's basically like unscrewing a few screws and cutting a few wires and getting $75 or so out of it although it's Ken who gets the $75 because it all goes on Ebay.

It's satisfying keeping good stuff out of the hands of the bums, though, who just smash things up.

The once and future cornet

The reason I dug the Connstellation out and replaced the errant screw and put in new water key corks is that last week I'd gone by Park...
