Freezing overnight

It being sunny during the day means it gets down to freezing overnight. It probably gets down to the 50s in here so that's not bad.

I woke up sort of halfway, after having a weird dream where I lived in something like the small mobil home I rented in Costa Mesa years ago, and was walking distance to all kinds of things. So I woke up and walked around and there was a breakfast place where you get those breakfasts with thick bacon and potatoes and 3 eggs and good coffee. I considered going in, but I knew with today's prices the breakfast would likely cost me $20. I considered it anyway; the people inside were talking about the TV show Jimmy Neutron and I was thinking I could buddy up, talking about Jimmy Neutron myself, but then I realized I'd fail. What's Jimmy's dog's name?

I woke up a bit more, and thought about how many of our TV shows (and movies etc.) are just morality plays. If, they say, we only had this or that new technology, or if we just changed our fundamental nature by following this or that belief system, then life would be ideal.

So I was awake by 10AM, which is doing OK. I want to make sure I get 8-9 hours of sleep, and I might make my "hard" bedtime midnight instead of 1, the one exception being when Ken's over and then it will be more like 1.

I had plenty of time to pack 10 things and take them to the downtown post office (after dropping off trash in my "secret" trash can and dropping off my December pledge at the temple). Then I went to Dai Thanh for chicory coffee and stuff, then went around the corner to Iguana's for a couple of "street" tacos. I got to watch them make utterly huge burritos while I waited. The tacos I got were pretty good, and their orange sauce is pretty decent. Not bad for $6.

I went to the Amazon place for some bubble mailers, and then went to Nijiya for a few things.  I also found three books, a bunch of zip ties, and a computer graphics board. Somewhere in there I also went to Lee's and got 6 assorted croissants/pastries for $3.50.

It had warmed up to the 50s but it was getting pretty cold by the time I got back here. I'd left at 2PM and got back a bit after 4PM.

The once and future cornet

The reason I dug the Connstellation out and replaced the errant screw and put in new water key corks is that last week I'd gone by Park...
