83rd day sober. Being sober is really great. I've had some interesting times, walking through the liquor aisle in CVS and looking at all the various tipples, and thinking, "I used to buy that one .... and I used to buy that one... " etc.
After listing Ebay things I got some practice in and the higher notes are getting easier. I can also play things when out busking that I could not before.
I woke up a bit after 3, packed things, and did my post office run. On the way back I spent "busking money" on groceries at H Mart, and came straight back here. After awarding feedbacks on Ebay and putting things away, I ate the "special" fried chicken drumettes I got at H Mart and then took off for downtown. I got to Whole Foods just in time to set up and play, but I was hot and sweaty from the ride so I bought a can of coffee and settled down and drank it and read The Metro for a bit.
Then I set up, at about 20 after 8, and played until 9:45. I figure I made $20-odd there, and unlike in the Before Times, when there was a last-minute rush of people, often good tippers, nothing really happens tip-wise after 9:30.
I went in and got some walnuts and avocados, and it really was empty in there; just staff hardly any customers. I think it's good that they see me buying things like coffee and avocados and walnuts, instead of, say, beer or wine. Or even seeing me coming back from CVS with booze, because it's amazing what people will notice and I'd certainly be the talk of the place, being seen packing a handle of vodka or gin away in my bike bag.
All in all it was a bit slow at Whole Foods but it was fairly pleasant. But I wanted to play more so I rode over to The Old Spaghetti Factory and played for about a half-hour there and made about $15. Overall I'd made $37.63 tonight. The acoustics are very different at the Old Spag. There's more resonance, and it's noisier and people are generally walking by quickly.
After this I just rode home. Got to rest up for tomorrow.
