66th day sober. I slept in until 4 again, but I got a good practice in last night while watching the first chapter of War And Remembrance.
I've also downloaded "Beautiful Dreamer" for trumpet and the version I got, for some reason, has it all except the very last note but that's easy enough to figure out. I'd been doing the middle part from memory and while it sounded fine it wasn't faithful to the original. If I'm gonna play a song, I want to make sure it's right. There are people out there who will know the song well; better than I do. As an example once I was playing a song that one of the noted sax players had as his "signature" song, something about somewhere in the Caribbean. Well, a guy walking past sang along, with words. The thing had words? That was news to me. That's the kind of guy who'd notice if I got one note wrong.
My "assignment" this week is to get "Beautiful Dreamer" down pat, and also "It's Been A Long Long Time". It's kind of like I've signed up for a college class that "meets" for an hour on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, and that I have to study for. But in this case I get paid instead of paying, and I'm actually learning a useful skill.
When I put my bedding away in the loft I saw what a thought for a moment was a roach but it was a mouse. I'd heard chewing a week or so ago and have bought a rat trap (we did have rats at the old building) but now I know it's a mouse. So I need to get a mouse trap as a rat trap is far too big.
I left here at about 6 and took the packages to the post office. The chute was jamming about every 3rd customer and for some reason there were lots of people mailing packages - maybe there's some holiday I'm not aware of? I did eventually get things sent.
Then I went to H Mart for a few things, and then over to Lowe's where I got a gallon of Windex, a package of paper towels, and a package of 4 mouse traps.
I got back here and relaxed and had some snacks from H Mart as well as here, and then got to work packing more things. The mouse was running around in sight when I went up into the loft - I'd put some packing "peanuts" that are made of corn starch or something, the "organic" ones, to give the mouse something to eat so it would not get into more important things, and the little guy had eaten all but a couple of them.
