67th day sober. Up at 3. I got a good practice in before bed. I also set out two snap traps for the mouse before bed and one of them worked as advertised. So that's pretty neat.
I had coffee and vitamins etc and packed a couple more things, and took a big load up to the post office and FedEx. Interestingly, the post office was *really* un-busy where yesterday it was quite busy, with lots of people mailing boxes. Probably people sending souvenirs home. I remarked on this to one of the workers there and thanked her for being so helpful yesterday (she got to hear people gripe about the chute being stuck).
FedEx went fine, and I picked up a good load of packing stuff on the way back. I swung by Tom's place to say hi and we hung out for a while. I told him I made $110 over the weekend, and he told me how he made -$5 on his first scrap wood sale because he sold some wood for $25 but the buyer managed to steal his hammers, which were worth $30.
I asked him how his barbecue went yesterday and he said it was pretty much a non-event. I'd been invited but didn't go because I thought it might be a fiasco. Tom asked me if I wanted to try a "Korean cake" and handed me a daifuku, a nice traditional one with black bean paste inside. Yum! In unwrapping his, Tom managed to not only drop it but knock it under a wooden rack he was going to take apart, so he had to dig a bit for it and dust it off. That's one thing about Tom: If he invites you to dinner and your food's got dog hair in it or something, you can be sure he's eating dog hair himself.
I realized it was after 8 and had to go, and rode down Rogers then cut across by the African place and checked the tire place for big boxes and no luck. I had a big capacitor to pack that's bigger than most boxes and has to be packed carefully because it's got high voltage terminals sticking out and mounting brackets also. If I could pack it in time, I could foist it off on Ken to take to FedEx tomorrow.
I got back here and checked all my boxes and all I had that would fit is a really big one that I cut down to 24 inches long, and after artfully doing that, artfully also packed the cap and padded it well and got that ready to go. Then I had an active microwave filter thingie that needed a pretty large box too but nothing custom, and packed that up.
Ken came by after I'd cleaned the bathroom and relaxed a bit. Ken dropped off a bunch of stuff and he'll take the big boxes to FedEx which is great. He wrote out my check and we did the usual BS session and it was a good old time.
He left about a quarter to midnight and I got out and cooked some shrimp, broccoli and garlic, fish cake and fried tofu, all in a big bowl and ate. It was quite good.
