Is this how summer is going to be?

59th day sober. I was up until something like 6:30 AM listing 20 Ebay things, then got some practice in, but then the guys next door started making noise, rolling their door up etc., I decided to get to bed, since there's really not supposed to be someone in here making trumpet noises.... That being said, as long as I keep the practice up, I am building up the higher notes...

I feel like Ebay is dying under its own weight. It used to be a mediator, between the buyer and the seller and as a seller, if I didn't take care of my customers they'd let me know, and the feedback system enforces that. Now, it's Ebay nagging us if we don't ship things out quickly, and making our sales go down because I think it makes us show up lower in searches. And for some reason the feedback system is broken and I can't leave feedback.

All I can hope is that Ebay holds together well enough for me to keep existing here for the next 3 years and save up money, and that overall, society is still intact enough for me to get back home.

Hot weather... I feel like a genius for having bought that fan, because it is, like good old Governor Ariyoshi, quiet and effective. And who knows fans may be sold out by now. There's no shortage of fans around here though - a big oscillating fan, an oversized Hercules muffin-type fan, no end of equipment fans etc. But this one was plug in and go, no special wiring needed and doesn't take up much space.

The barley tea I bought a box of on a whim is a win also. I did the math - twice because I didn't believe it at first - and it comes out to something like 31c a liter. And it tastes good.

The Delta strain of the virus is a worry now, so that's another thing making this summer interesting. NPR ran an article recently, drawing from a new study showing the covid deaths in the US may be more like 900k, or close to a million. To keep to the model of the 1918 flu, we "need" to lose 2 million people and the virus to be rampant not only through this summer but the next also. Then like the 1918 flu it needs to mysteriously fizzle out.

I took things to the post office and FedEx, collected some boxes on the way back, had a couple of boiled eggs and some banana chips I'd bought at the African store, and busied myself packing some things and putting things away until Ken came by.

I got my check and Ken found the missing thing in a short time, and I packed it up right away. Better late than never! Ken and I BS'd until about 11:30 then he took off.
