I A-B tested the Kanstul against my Yamaha, and the Kanstul wins by a mile. Silver plated horns are reputed to be more "shrill" or "hard" sounding, but the Kanstul is mellow, while the Yamaha has a hard, almost plasticky edge to it. This is not to say the Yamaha is bad per se, it's a fine horn. It's just that the Kanstul, whatever model it is, is nicer.
I now understand what the much-vaunted "reverse lead pipe" is. It's the way the lead pipe interfaces with the main tuning slide. This trumpet doesn't have that feature, and I don't care.
