46th day sober. I left this laptop on all night so I'd not have to screw around for half an hour to get online. I woke up at 2, when by the time I went to sleep I should have woken up at noon, but I guess I needed the sleep.
I keep looking at places online like r/collapse on Reddit, to get an idea of how things are out there. I know we've got heat to deal with for the next few months, and it may cause a catastrophe in Texas because that's just how they do things there. But all across the US especially in the flyover, "dumbfuckistan" parts of the US. This is why all desire to retire in some cute little flyover town where it's ostensibly cheaper than California (these places are generally not) has left me.
But the question is, how much longer will it be possible to return home? I've been assuming things will be fairly much OK for the next 3 years and I hope I'm right.
I packed stuff that had to go, took it to the post office, and on my way back as I was looking for packing materials I noticed that the drone place had left their dumpster unlocked and there were tons of these really neat little battery boxes in there. So I hurried back to the shop with the stuff I'd gathered and unloaded it and went back for the boxes - 62 small ones and maybe a dozen of other sizes.
Then I loaded up some boxes of stuff I had in the trash enclosure and took that to a spot near the bridge where people often dump stuff.
With all this extra running around I was glad I'd stopped at Baba's and had a gyro, and since the tables out front were free I'd just eaten it there.
Eventually Ken came by with some stuff to list and we sat around and talked about tech stuff for a while, and when I started packing a thing to ship and started looking at the clock he said it was "probably time to go" since it was almost midnight.
I cooked up some spam and eggs since it's easy and ate, and listed some Ebay things - mainly the things Ken brought plus a few high voltage power supplies.
