Wake In Fright

Last night I sifted and sorted and cleaned stuff, and in the process of finding a nice ribbon cable to take apart to make shorting wires for some HV capacitors, I found what's left of the very same gadget I just took apart, so I took that apart and left the scrap metal out for the bums.

I eventually settled down to watch the great Australian movie "Wake In Fright" which I'd not watched in a while, while practicing. My practice went well too, with my blowing that just little fraction stronger and my fingers just a little bit less confused, and faster and more in-time, as always happens each good practice.

Of course the movie is so good that I just had to watch all of it so while my practice was maybe a bit over an hour, I had almost another hour of movie to watch. I ended up having some of the decaf Typhoo tea and a "Chinese donut" so I could sleep deeply which I did.

Wake In Fright is *such* a good movie I have to gush about it, and like "On The Beach" there's also a more modern re-make that's good too.

I woke up at 3? 4? I'm still confused. I packed 9 things and had some coffee and peanuts and dark chocolate and started out. Some rain came through while I was packing but it passed and it wasn't too bad when I went out - cold, but I didn't get rained on and there wasn't a puddle problem.

I was just a simple out and back, all packages going to the post office. There was a ton of traffic, probably because I left at 5:30 plus the rain always bollixes things up.

I came back by the most direct route, along Junction, and of course although it was raining the bums were out and around on their bikes. I guess the need for crack doesn't pay any attention to cold (which it is) and rain and so on. There's junk to find and catalytic converters to steal.

Now it can rain all it likes, as I really don't have to do another mail run until Wednesday.

The once and future cornet

The reason I dug the Connstellation out and replaced the errant screw and put in new water key corks is that last week I'd gone by Park...
