Or at least it sure feels like it. After taking some packages to the post office I went to 99 Ranch and got another package of "Curry Mee" instant noodles which are actually pretty good - and spicy. I also got some beef to cut up and freeze.
I got straight back here (had to drop off a small FedEx package also) and did a nice thorough scrub down of myself, and had the place pretty nice and clean when Ken came by. He had pallet rack cross-pieces I helped him bring in and stow away.
Then I got my check and we talked a while. He remarked when he came in that the shop smelled like root beer. I wish I'd remembered to spray it around here a 2nd time, but that air freshener I got at Walmart did the trick. I'd rather the place smell a little like root beer than a lot like fish.
After Ken was gone I had some egg salad and futzed around with various things, and then got some practice in. I'd read some question on r/flute on Reddit about "the Bb key" and I looked that up, and it turns out there's a key I can press with my left thumb that makes a very slightly clearer Bb note, instead of the way I've learned in the book, using some fingers. The discussion on Reddit was that a student ought to learn the method using fingers well, but when more advanced and doing advanced pieces like in performance, they'll use that little thumb key.
I got up around 3 and left here just a few minutes before 4. I went right over to the bank and put my pay check in, took some cash out, and set the PIN for my new debit card. I was able to activate it, but not set the PIN, on the phone before leaving.
Then I rode over to Dai Thanh and got a couple things and used my new debit card and it worked fine. So that's all taken care of.
It was seriously cold out, and I'm glad to have changed over to my "winter uniform"; my cargo shorts won't be seen again until April. It's all long sleeves, sweat pants, and layers for the next 5 months.
I stopped in at Nijiya for some things also, most notably some sushi, and then just got back here. It was cold, dangit.
I might really want to look at getting out busking this weekend, too, not because I feel like I'm ready, which I don't, but because Ken might want to come over and do a lot of work and I'd rather skip out on that so I might come up with some cute story about having arranged to play with some people at a certain time etc.
