Last night I did the math and I'd spent my last paycheck but no more than that. That's pretty good news, considering all the spending I'd been doing including over $30 for those two boxes of 9mm ammo from Big-5. The idea with those is they can always be range ammo if I ever get the chance to shoot at a range again, and also I can experiment with making them hollow points which I think I can with some simple tooling I can come up with.
I mentioned on the Morris Berman blog that in one sense, the Glock is simply a safer place to park my savings than in a little stack of $100 bills. Unlike the bills, it will increase in value, and unlike the bills, if needed can be used to defend myself.
There are a few bits and bobs I still want to get for it, namely, the better factory-made trigger transfer bar thing, which gives a better, 4.5-lb trigger pull instead of the not-so-good 6.5-lb trigger pull it has, stock. A good pair of sights, not sure whether to go with the tritium ones or not. And a better slide stop, while the stock magazine release which lots of people don't like, works fine for me. I'd also not mind having a book on how to take the thing completely apart. I've done the odd bit of gunsmithing in the past, and can not only take a Ruger mk II apart, but I can also put one together again which is no mean feat.
I got a practice in last night, and need to do that every night.
I was up at about 1:30, had my coffee etc., and then at a bit after 3 rode the bike out to the front of the complex and got a sort of meaty breakfast sandwich for $2.50. The lady there charges $2 for the regular sausage and egg ones, at least in the afternoon when most people are not thinking of breakfasty things like that.
Last night I'd vacuumed the office, which looks really nice now. Ken called when I was just done and said he's not coming over since he'd gotten into a different car and forgotten his check book.
Apparently the hopper in the ATM at my bank fills up quickly so if I don't deposit the check tomorrow, Friday, I won't be able to until at least Monday and more probably Tuesday.
