C'est le guerre

Last night I'd not only listed some things on Ebay but realized that my printer had still acted a bit wonky when I'd printed the label for the copper sheeting during the day, and I really needed to get some things shipped today (Friday) so I stayed up until 6AM packing the things I needed to get out.

I drank more than my daily allotment of alcohol, and when I woke up at 4 in the afternoon I found the door open, but lucky my "fort" of packed boxes was there. That was weird.

I had to be out of here like a cat of the scalded variety with the packages and some Super-Seekrit Trash(tm) at 5 on the dot so I skipped coffee etc., answered questions on Ebay, had one buyer say about their two items "SHIP TODAY" to which I answered "Will try" and packed those up, and was out the door at 5 on the dot.

The drop-offs went OK, except I think I dropped off a FedEx package at the post office. I went back and the packages too large for the chute that I'd left on the counter were gone.

I asked about this at FedEx and they figured the packages got to them somehow. I figured this too, since it probably happens all the time, and it's probably not the first time I've done it.

I collected some packing materials on the way back, but no dumpster veggies. While checking out some stuff in the complex just down the road, some Mexican workers there offered me $5. "No, I'm fine!" I said, and explained I'm mainly looking for packing/shipping materials. I did pick up a Chevy key fob sort of thing to list on Ebay though.

I got back here, put things away, looked at the time, and realized I needed to go right back out. I headed out again w/o the trailer, and stopped at another salsify plant I'd noticed, by the bridge over Coyote Creek. I nipped off a bunch of young flower buds just starting out, so that's where the plant is sending a lot of good stuff. I also stopped where the nasturtiums are and picked 25 leaves and 25 flowers.

I went to 99 Ranch first and got a bunch of things, and got $100 cash back. I also used my little coupon to get two tea eggs.

I exited around the back and hit up the malva growing on that lawn again, picking 25 leaves. There are some cute bugs that eat the leaves too, not sure if ladybug nymphs.

I rode over to H Mart and got more stuff there, and total spending about $100 today. I rode around behind the place and had the tea eggs, a $3 tall can of some kind of "Hawaiian ale" and had some "Uncle Yu's spicy fish balls" which go pretty well with beer. There are not many places I can sit on a lawn or grass etc and drink a beer and eat., without attracting attention from busybodies or the copz, but if I sit on the curb back there under the trees, a thing only Asian/Hispanic workers do, I'm invisible. It was nice, drinking my beer and nibbling fish balls.

It was now time to get back, though, because it was starting to get dark. I rode on back here, put things away, handed out feedback on Ebay, had a bit more to eat and was getting ready to get an hour's practice in when Ken showed up. I knew he was coming but didn't know he'd be earlier than usual. He handed me a few boxes and I think he just wanted to hang out and talk.

So Ken ate his burger and fries (and I had a few fries) and drank the diet 7up I'd got him, and we talked about all sorts of things, mostly technical, and about people we knew, and so on. Ken has a real need to socialize, and hanging out and talking "tech" is one of the services he pays me for, essentially.

When Ken and I were all talked out, he took off, and I fixed up the slice of roast salmon I'd treated myself to from H Mart. Fresh jalapeno slices, little salt and pepper, Kewpie mayo, and bam that's it. It was good. I followed that up with a celery and nasturtium salad (with a few malva flowers in there too) that also came out well.

After all that work until 6AM and then being at a dead run from when I got up today until Ken left, I just feel like going to bed early.
