A Good Neighbor

As mentioned last night, I'd cleared out the trash enclosure with the "NO DUMPING" sign on it, since 99% of the stuff in there was due to my stashing it there to get it out of the shop. Hopefully the cleaning business and the welding business people are happy. Got to maintain a neat, clean Apocalypse around here.

I wonder if Crazy Chrissie got into a hotel room? They're putting homeless people into hotel rooms and it would class-up her prostitution thing considerably. Kind of like if I were making and selling tamales off of my bike trailer, then the city gives me the use of a lunch truck for a month or so.

I had my delicious chicory coffee and chocolate, walnuts etc and then packed packages until just before 5, then got dressed and loaded up the bike trailer with the packages I had to go, and rode up to the post office first but on the way there's some nasturtiums growing, and I picked a little baggie of leaves and flowers.

Then dropped off the one FedEx package, and rode around the back of H Mart as I generally do to leave. They'd thrown out a lot of abalones, the ones they sell for $7 each inside, and I considered grabbing a few for the shells, but boy, did they stink. I then decided not to.

I did my usual scrounge-around, picked up some pine cones and some pine wood trimmings, as possible fuel for the Kelly Kettle. And the usual odds and ends for packing. By the electrical lighting place I found some cool little jars with remnants of marijuana in them, and by Sanmina I picked up some foam pieces and a large flat box to use as a drip-catcher for drying laundry. I also shot the bull a bit with a guy who works there, who told me someone had stolen their forklift and taken it on a joy ride for a few blocks; they'd gotten it back. I wonder if he suspected me? I think his suspicions were laid to rest, though, and we talked about various things and go along well. This is the 2nd time I've talked with this guy, and I guess I have a friend at Sanmina now.

From the sign place I rode up to where Metal Dog Tactical is, because I wanted to find just one more of the extra-large zip ties I'd gotten there the other day, but tonight the parking lot was full of workers, a bunch of Mexicans with their music and a bunch of beers, and I went right up and said I want to buy some of those extra large zip ties from them. Once they realized what I wanted, typical Mexicans, they gave me a handful, then another handful (total 18) of the things and wouldn't take my money.

I circled back around and cut two large leaves off of the "prize" milk thistle. Prickly bastard!

I came back with a pretty full bike trailer. I unloaded the stuff, got my "getter stick" and went back around the corner for a box of DVD covers that I think might be good for mailing things in, and also picked up what I think is a jicama from the produce place. I also took out a big heavy plastic tray sort of thing that I wanted to use as a drip catcher but it's awfully heavy, and I didn't want to put it in the trash enclosure, so I leaned it against a telephone pole out on Old Bayshore, and someone will pick it up.

I cooked up some bacon and eggs, took the thistle leaves and cut the edges off where the thorns are, and put those in the fridge. I took the nasturtium leaves and flowers and put them in the pickle juice I'd saved to make a sort of pickled salad for tomorrow. The thing I picked up from the veggie place is a jicama so I guess jicama salad is in my future too.

It's very quiet with Crazy Chrissie gone, and there's some other bum vehicle over in "her" corner, a red truck, but nobody around at all.

I took 4 of the large zip ties and removed the hose clamps I had on there, and secured the book shelf up in the loft. The hose clamps were a disaster because I thought  I could use large ones and get them to fold somehow, like a figure 8, which they were not at all inclined to do. This is much better.
