A Beautiful Day

I just stayed up overnight and packed the few things that had sold, including one large thing that, as I have things planned, had to go out today. I took that up to FedEx and then came back here, dropped off the bike trailer, and headed back out, this time for downtown.

I had a few small packages which I took to the downtown post office. When I got back from the FedEx run it was 9AM so I figured I'd be out early enough that the zombies would not be active. And indeed, I saw several zombies sleeping on the sidewalk, side of the road, etc. But it was warm enough that some *were* active. There was yelling and noise in St. James Park, and a zombie sitting on the steps of the downtown post office muttering to itself about being "angry, angry".

As I went in, I set my water bottle down next to it, "Here's some water...". I dropped the packages off and then went back out and there was no more muttering about "angry ... angry".

On 2nd street an angry zombie, what might be called a fast walker, came along ranting something about probation and court and so on and started rushing in my direction - I was in the curious situation of trying to look like I was not even aware of the zombie, while speeding up in quite a bit of haste to avoid the zombie.

I rode down to Big-5 which wasn't going to open until 10 so I had 20 minutes. I went into Wal-Mart where it turns out they sell batteries at Customer Service which isn't manned until 10, so I got to hang out with the weirdos waiting there also. One short, loud lady was waiting to get a money order to pay her rent, and the guy behind me was doing some kind of Walmart-to-Walmart money transfer. Me, I just wanted a couple of CR2032 batteries for my calculator, which I got for $5 and got out of there.

Next was the Amazon place where I picked up some bubble mailers and the non-sugar sweetener that I hope is the kind Ken uses. That was pretty simple.

I got a couple of books, "The Winter Of Our Discontent" by Steinbeck and one by Orson Scott Card that the used book store might want.

Then I went to Nijiya and got a package of shrimp (so I can try out the shrimp boil I got a package of last week) and a package of celery and a little package of 10 sticks of "Black Black" gum.

I even had money left, given that I had my change bag with me, to get some spicy chicken wings from a lunch truck out by Old Bayshore. And all of this without touching my bank account.

The crazy wind that had made it rather unpleasant yesterday was gone. There was just a cool refreshing breeze. It was really nice out there.

Like training animals

You can talk and talk to an animal, and it won't learn that, for instance, if it's your kitty and she insists on napping in the sin...
