Saturday night

On Friday I was able to pack things to take with me to the post office and to get out of here in time. I did a study session at the Starbucks on the Alameda, then went over to the temple for the service. That went great except I forgot my glasses and stuff so I had to sit up near the front and I wore the baseball-themed kippah that's in the box with a lot of others, all left over from bar mitvahs. It's fun to be able to read the Hebrew, not as fast as I can read the English but ... getting there.

It was a "Ruach" Shabbat service and the people sitting behind me thought maybe "Ruach" was Hebrew for "Rock" since we had a band this night. But the rabbi came around in his general habit of circulating and it turns out, he told us, that "Ruach" means "Heart" so that cleared that up. Hebrew for "Rock" haha.

The flute lady was there and I got to talk with her a bit. She's very happy with the flutes I sold her, and we had a nice friendly short talk.

After the service stopped by Whole Foods for a few last minute things then got back here. I settled in for a nice Shabbat night.

Now Shabbat is over and ... ugh the news. Voice Of America and Radio Free Asia are now shut down. Lots of people who voted for El Dumpo are losing their jobs as well as his political opposites. It reminds me of how it was dangerous to be an enemy of Stalin in the USSR but it was also dangerous to be a friend of Stalin. Being a family member of Stalin was particularly dangerous.

An early day

I had an appointment with the rabbi at 9AM. I didn't sleep too well last night, woke up really early like maybe 6, and couldn't get...
