A Stay-In Saturday

It rained overnight and not just drizzle but a considerable amount of rain. I looked on Reddit where rain is always talked about but there was no mention on r/sanjose or r/bayarea.

However, I *did* learn that Reddit is going to be further enshittified, in that people who come up with popular posts are going to be paid. Somehow. In theory. I guess it will be something like YouTube where you, too, can work endless hours for maybe $2 an hour if you're lucky, until they decide to "demonetize" you for any reason or no reason at all. As someone commented on Reddit, "here come the bots" because if you can program some bots to post and post and post with random combinations of things, you *will* hit with some. Think of multiple "you's" each making $2 an hour ...

And the rest of us will read the crap put out by bots. And what's actually going on, like our first substantial rain of the season, will not be commented on at all.

Another observation of this type I want to make is, I have a little bottle of taurine capsules I bought at Whole Foods and I'm trying to decide whether to just get another small bottle like it at Whole Foods this week, or do I get the larger one they sell at Sprouts (and incidentally hopefully get to tell the checker and bagger guys that my $30 had shown up so it really was no problem). But I can't find any evidence that the Whole Foods  I always go to has even heard of the stuff. In other words, the internet is useless; the only way to check the price is to go down there in person. And I probably should have written the price I'd paid on the cap when I bought the stuff.

It was cold enough today that I got one of my new pairs of sweat pants out, although it's supposed to turn quite warm again later in the week. I just slept through the day, not necessarily helped by the guys next door holding a noisy cookout with music and then a sort of informal car wash and detailing service for all their cars (probably saves them a ton of money and frankly I like hearing happy people) then finished reading "The Kindness Of Women" by J. G. Ballard.

Saturday night

I got decent sleep, at least. Actually I was awakened after an hour's sleep by some of the yahoos going to the prostitution operation, ...
