I was up until .... probably 8AM last "night" and up listing some Ebay things plugins Ken had reminded me a few times he wanted listed. I put a very small amount of sake, less than 1 cm, in each mug of ice water and while I felt shaky and shitty at first I somehow got better once I started puttering around the shop and getting things done, if slowly.
My bedtime amount of sake was the last of the carton, maybe at most 1/3 of the mug, with the rest water and ice. And once I finally went to sleep, I was able to get to sleep pretty well. Those deep breathing exercises are good for nodding right off.
I woke up about 1 in the afternoon and thought I need a bit more rest so I got a bit more sleep until 3. I had a couple of weird dreams but kind of interesting ones not those worrisome ones I get once in a great while.
I got up, had a packet of "Yunker EC" which is a Japanese vitamin C drink I kind of like, and a Yakult. I decided to get going packing that big HP instrument I'd told Ken he might have to come over and get because I didn't feel strong enough to take it to FedEx myself. So I found a big box that had held some piece of medical equipment and put that all together and packed it up. It took over an hour, more like an hour and a half.
I had a mug of green tea and some natto and the natto tasted delicious. I've found a brand I like; the one with the picture of a couple working in the garden on it. I wanted to have something in my stomach and it was quicker than cooking up eggs.
I was able to wiggle the big box onto the bike trailer, and put a smaller FedEx box on top, and a yet smaller one in one of the bike bags. The wind was very strong and it was a hard haul indeed. On the way back I got a fair amount of packing stuff, which was nice.
I dropped everything off here, and my next plan was to do a trash run. I had a bunch of trash out in the trash enclosure here, and I figured I'd run it over to the FedEx dumpster (the nearby FedEx major shipping place - not a retail place. They have a big dumpster they never fill more than a quarter of. But I revised my plan. I'd take the remaining, unopened, carton of sake I had here and give it to Tom Price after dropping off the trash. And I'd visit the storage unit in-between. So that's just what I did.
I picked up some stuff at the storage, nothing major. Usually there are other users there, but this time it seemed utterly deserted. Then I went across the street to Tom Price's building and knocked on the door and of course he was there. "Sake delivery service" I said, handing it to him. It took him a bit to realize the carton wasn't shoyu or something, but sake.
We hung out and talked for a bit until it started to get cold. He told me about how, just hours before, this homeless looking Vietnamese guy had come around with a hammer, banging on various parts of his (large box type) truck and he'd yelled at the guy who took off, but had broken the lens on one of the tail lights. I said it being Sunday and the middle of the day, the guy probably figured whoever's business it was, the business owner would not be there. But now the guy knows he's in there all the time so he probably won't be back.
I told him about a bunch of crazy things I'd seen around there but surprisingly little damage to vehicles. In fact none that I knew of.
I also told him about my domoic acid poisoning and how that plus drinking far too much was really bad and I'm not going to drink any more. Tom's known for drinking enough to go on Ebay and buy a bunch of stuff and not remember it in the morning. So go wild on that sake, Tom.
I got back and was pretty hungry so I made a pork miso soup with noodles I cut from some won ton wrappers I still have. They end up great noodles, if very slippery, with a great taste and "bite".
I sifted and sorted and counted some things to list, and watched some YouTube and got into reading r/stopdrinking on Reddit, then decided I was *not* going to stay up until 9AM but ought to go to bed (it was about 5 at this time) and for some reason I was getting these pains in my gut.
So I'm sitting there, reading about all the people who've experienced the same things I have, the mystery bruises and cuts and so on, the various symptoms of withdrawal, etc. and my gut kept grumbling. I'll get some sleep and that will settle it, I thought, then thought I'd better take some Pepto-Bismol first. By this time I'd washed head/hair, trimmed and shaves, and brushed and flossed without gagging so I thought things were going well.
I went to the bathroom and only got a lot of air and a few rabbit poops, and I thought that'll settle it - must have been all that air. I went back to my desk and read more and contemplated taking a bit more Pepto because things were not settling down after all, and suddenly had to make a dash for the toilet. I can do this pretty quick because it's only about 12 or 15 feet away.
And I was not quick enough to get all the explosive diarrhea into the bowl. There went a pair of underpants and the sweat pants I was wearing; fortunately they were a pair I don't like and I've got plenty of others if I'll just do some laundry. I'm hoping there's not a round 2 of this. So this is another wonderful symptom of getting clean from alcohol.
I actually felt better after that drama and boiled up some eggs. Fully boiled eggs are one of the classic bland foods.
