Last night I got my Voldyne and shakuhachi time in. I was listing stuff on Ebay then realized it was about 4AM which is crazy late to be up, so quit that, did my practices, and went to bed.
I was up at 2. I looked at the radar map and realized I'd better get going. Besides eating a bit of breakfast I just got to work packing the 18 packages I'd staged last night and while I was going to pick a big thing and pack that too, I felt I didn't have time before the rain came in.
I got out of here a bit before 5. I did get a few drops on me but the packages were fine. And that's how it was; a few drops here and there, but not anything like actual rain. The clouds were orange and purple and all kinds of dramatic colors, and there were virga, where the rain falls out of the cloud but evaporates before it reaches the ground, a desert phenomenon, all over. I found myself look up into a huge orange virga that was right over me.
I stopped by the storage and picked up some things to keep me busy listing the next few days, didn't find much in the way of packing materials, and got back here and dropped the stuff and the trailer off.
Now I'll get wet, I thought, as I took off again to H Mart for a grocery and sake run. But as mentioned, only a few drops here and there. I got sake and a fried fish and a beer and some dried cuttlefish and, interested to see if they had the cut of pork used for tonkatsu, picked out a package of pork butt slices that looked good. 3/4 lb and 6 slices so, 3 servings.
I got back and had my beer and fish, futzed around on Reddit and picked out a batch of things to list - a lot of computer video cards - and figured I'd list those after finishing the batch I'd started last night but I only got halfway through the unfinished batch when I realized I was really hungry (it'd been hours) so I cooked up a veggie bowl (including gobo) and two slices of the pork. It came out delicious. And the only seasoning I used was S&B "seasoned pepper". The pork had even better flavor than the tonkatsu slices from Nijiya so I think I have a new favorite kind of pork.
Regardless of the "fizzle yield" of the rain clouds today, it's supposed to be rainy the next couple of days. Plenty of time to stay in and pack stuff. If push comes to shove I can work out a way to keep the packages dry even if I get wet. But I think it's only going to be Tuesday-Wednesday that are rained out.
Shaun Renzo Head, on YouTube, as part of his "A Minyo A Day Keeps The Doctor Away" series, played one today called "The moon over the ruined castle" and darn it, it's not in my Koga book. I believe it's in one of the books sold by Mejiro over in Japan. I really want to learn it because, being Meiji-era, it's very friendly to my Western-trained ears. It's a very popular song in Japan and in Japanese musical education.
I have Koga's 2nd book and a large "Pitt" brush marker waiting for me at the Amazon place. I'll pick them up on Thursday or Friday.
