Welp, coming home from my post office and FedEx run last night, I picked up not only two "english" cucumbers and two poblano chiles, but behind one of the stores that's in the strip with H Mart, the one on the end, there's always a table and chairs, and often what I consider homeless paraphenalia, like a cart with junk on it and at times a bike. There's also a little table there with various things on it, which I never really thought about. Maybe it's stuff left over from workers taking a break.
But this time I stopped right there, because it was a good stopping place and I wanted to call Ken to tell him to paypal this one customer $30 because he'd overpaid that much on shipping and I'd told him we'd refund the overage. Being kind of nosy, I went over to the table and had a look at the stuff. There was a box with donuts marked FREE, and bottles of Lagunitas "Hop Stoopid Ale", maybe four of them. So I took two and put 'em in the bike bag.
"Hop Stoopid Ale" is mainly stoopidly strong, but that's OK because I watered it down with ice. And I had that, wine, and my cold lamb dish with some cucumber slices for dinner.
I slept through most of today, then got up and read Anita Diamant's "Choosing A Jewish Life". That book's quite a resource and I'm really glad I got it. It even goes into how converts choose their Hebrew names. I guess mine will be Abraham ben Abraham v'Sarah which is sort of the "John Smith" of Hebrew names but I don't care because Abraham was a badass.
It's been parking lot parties this weekend. First the Mexicans on one side of me who have the cleaning business, then I think the Mr. Softee people had a bit of a whoop-up, and now it's Asians I think, further down, with a big blue tarp-roof thing set up and dancing. A bit earlier, someone passing through in a car was a bit miffed about the crowded parking lot, what with that and the ice cream trucks still there, and did a burn-out. It's hard enough to thread through here but doing a burn-out too was kind of impressive.
