Clean air again?

Air quality's below 50, it's a balmy 80 degrees in here, and I was up at 3. We'll have building inspectors coming around sometime in the next week so there's that. The last time they came around they were really positively impressed.

I rode over to J-town and got a few things at Nijiya including a small fish bento and a can of beer and sat on a large landscaping rock at the Issei Center since a gal was sitting at the benches, and ate. It was very peaceful, but also kind of hilarious in that there are a couple people who I guess live behind the church across the street and they like to sing. They're plenty loud but ... not good singers.

Done eating, I went over to Whole Foods and locked the bike and walked up to CVS. There was a shirtless zombie sitting by the hardware store that was not verbal, just making various sounds kind of like a dog barking. He quieted down when I started to get my pepper spray ready but he looked too lazy to make a jump at me anyway. On the way back I walked on the other side of the street.

I got some things in Whole Foods too so now I won't have to go downtown on Tuesday if I don't feel like it. It was dark now and I rode back along Santa Clara street which was probably a mistake. There were various zombies and sketchy types around, and one zombie almost got me. This one was a tall, lanky, black one and he dodged and flailed back and forth trying to get me, but I guess my ducking and dodging was better because I got past him and he said "Excuse me" as I got past. Riiiiiiiiight. I said out loud, "That zombie almost got me! Gotta start carryin' a machete!" hoping the zombie heard.

But being on Santa Clara street after the sun's down was a mistake right there. Things are very different now, and there's no winning a fight with a zombie on that street even with a machete, because even if you chop 'im the others will swarm in. I get the impression the drug scene has become a lot more lively there lately, and just like the cops don't sweat my drinking a beer on the sidewalk, they probably don't mind as much the druggies doing their druggy thing right on the street there because these days, the normal people aren't out much after sundown.

I did notice at Whole Foods that at 7:00 or so there were no more petition-botherers and there was a nice trickle of customers going in and out so it would have been fine for busking. But trumpet-playing is apparently a very germ-spreading activity so I can't in good conscience do it. And my insides are out of order so I'm going to take some time off practicing too.

Cold and foggy Friday

I woke up around 11, and even around noon it's foggy and dark.  I should mention that "dead internet theory", the theory that...
