I remember, long ago, Wednesday being "Hump Day". I'd be sitting there at my tech bench, listening to KLOS on the radio, and they had some little "Hump Day" routines, and it really felt like getting over a hump, in that there were only two more work days after, and perhaps Saturday if we were doing lots of overtime.
It's just another day now. Another very quiet day, although some guy livened it up by ripping around the parking lot on a small 2-cycle dirt bike. Probably something like an 80cc; those small bikes are a ton of fun.
We're looking at everyone being "highly encouraged" to wear a cloth mask when outside. I think it's slowly sinking in that it's those little droplets that spread the virus. That's how I got the last really bad crud; Ken had it and came over and coughed on me and sure enough, I got it. People need to get it clearly in their minds that it's droplets, and the other source is contaminated surfaces you touch and then "inoculate" yourself by touching your mouth or eyes. But mostly it's probably the droplets.
It's been bad in Italy what with all that cheek kissing they do, and much less bad in Germany where they're pretty standoffish and obsessed with cleanliness. I think this is going to upgrade our hygiene-awareness. Ken coughing on me like he did would not fly now. It'd rank right up there with the time I was over at his house and sitting at the table eating, and he started trimming his nails with the trimmings flying all over, and I kinda yelled at him for it. "Ken!! That's gross! Not all over my food!" and then Suzy backed me up because she's got certain ideas about food safety and that's not one of them.
Yes, I'm going to be much more of a prepper from here on out. I really wish I'd collected a library of physical books, all of Twain, all of London and Upton Sinclair, and a bunch of others. It's not hard to find full sets at a good price too. Could use some religious books too, a King James Bible for arguing with, and a decent Torah and my old books for learning to read Hebrew.
I got a decent practice in, Ken came by so I got my pay check this week, and after Ken was gone I did a bunch of Ebay listings, with the result that a couple of the things sold right away.
