Hot Hump Day

Last night "someone" turned up the heat again, as we're in another heatwave for today/tomorrow.

I got a so-so practice in, and then cooked up some salmon on top of vegetables. It's good, healthy, and quick. I probably went to sleep around 4AM.

I woke up around 1, I think, and realized I had time to finish packing. I'd only packed the items last night that Ebay said had to be packed within 24 hours, then drank some, watched YouTube, and crashed into bed. So I packed the rest, and was out the door at 4:30 having had a cold coffee.

The drop-offs were uneventful, and I got a good assortment of packing stuff and a few things to list on my route to back here. The veggie dumpster yielded some peppers that might be hot, and a red bell pepper. I'm getting something like $5 worth of veggies each time I get stuff from there.

I got back and put everything away, caught my breath for a few minutes, and headed back out at almost 6. Problem: I only had $12 on me, and my card almost never works at H Mart. I figured all I wanted was some salmon "trim" and maybe some sort of a snack, so I could probably cover it. When I got there, I decided to check my membership card because, every 10,000 points you get a gift card for $10, I turned out to have 15,000. So I got my $10 gift card and knew I had things covered. My bill came to $12.10 so that gift card *was* handy.

For some reason salmon trim was cheaper than it used to be, so I got a nice package of that, a nice roasted yellow croaker, and a Kona Brewing Co. beer because it's the cheapest. The place I'd sat and eaten by the curb by where the Panera Bread used to be, was covered with utility trucks so I just found another place there. And I had a nice little fish and beer picnic.

When the weather's hot like it was today, close to 100 degrees, people tend to hang out in their cars and there was one family in their SUV there but they didn't mind me. It's far different from Hawaii where a reason *would* be found to hassle me and I could get beat up or worse. Yeah... I'm never going back there...

I washed up, got rid of my trash, and cruised on back here. I had a couple of hard-boiled eggs, cut in half with furikake and Kewpie mayo on top, and who should show up but Ken. He had his truck bed full of tons of stuff .... basically an RF R&D lab. One of the companies that works with the company he works for, had decided to get rid of all this stuff and of course Ken got it. So we unloaded that into the shop and I caught him up on things, and we sat and talked, and it was all good. Ken and I get along, and work together, better then I thought was ever possible. I told him again we're like Krass & Bernie in Car-Toons which was sort of a MAD Magazine for hotrodders.

I also told him how my college-student schedule is keeping me (somewhat) sane, and he said he has to do the same thing, but in his case he has his wife, Suzy, to force him to get out and do things on the weekends. She'll tell him, "Ken, I wanna get out and (go, do, etc.) and he'll feel like he has so many projects to do and can't get away, but she forces him to, and he ends up having fun in spite of himself. "You have to force yourself", Ken said.

Ken took off and I actually got a practice in, then cooked up what I'm going to call "beef on veggie au jus" and it was delicious. I'm really getting to like my own cooking. Then I got my Ebay listing done, got the salmon "trim" trimmed up into 5 servings of just a little over 4 oz. each, so it ended up well under a dollar a serving.

Cold and foggy Friday

I woke up around 11, and even around noon it's foggy and dark.  I should mention that "dead internet theory", the theory that...
