More Paint

Last night I started taking an oscilloscope apart after testing it (CRT's OK but no scan) and got things together, but that took time. And waxing the bathroom floor took time. And putting a 2nd coat on the 2nd strip of the loft took time, too.

I've been looking at how quickly the level has been dropping in the first gallon of paint so last night I tried to save paint a bit. Not a great idea, as there's a definite line between the first stripe and what I did last night, even with it being a 2nd coat, so I'll have to do a 3rd tonight.

But there's tons else I can do up there, so I can do those other things then put on that 3rd coat on that strip and that will work fine.

I haven't said anything about Shinzo Abe being offed but now I think I know enough that I can. The long and short is, he was in with the Moonies, and the guy who offed him had his family's fortunes destroyed by the Moonies. But going deeper, Abe was a militarist and a Fascist, and it seems the killer was even more so, so as has been noted on Reddit, it was a case of a fascist being killed by a fascist for not being fascist enough. For more on this, see the insurrection of Jan. 6th and what was planned for Mike Pence.

The trials grind on, and more and more comes out making Trump and his followers look like the most vile criminals, but very stupid also. Other fascists, like Elon Muskrat, are even trying to dissociate themselves. Fat chance.

The abortion issue grinds on also. There's talk of providing services at military bases which are federal, or Indian reservations which are their own nations. Of course this will all be moot if the Nazis win in 2024 or even in 2022.

I'm just glad I've studied enough Nazi ideology to know how to make the right noises, and the WASPy features I inherited from my dad, that got me looked askance back in Hawaii, could save my bacon here on the mainland if things get tight. But I should work to get out of here before things get bad.

I wish I knew more about sailing. There are plenty of "hulls" to be bought for a song and I could sail to Hawaii tagging along with the Transpac race which is sure to have a "regatta" (not a race but just sailing together) get into Kaneohe Bay and anchor and have a place to stay. The Bethunes lived this way for a bit when I was a kid and visiting them was a big treat. Plus living right there by Chinaman's Hat in my teens, that bay feels like my personal bathtub.

The point of having a boat would be not only to get home but to have a way to get further away from the US if things get really hairy. But landlocked San Jose is probably an awful place to make these sorts of plans from. Better to get back home any way I can which almost certainly means an airliner, then figure things out from there.

I only had four things to send out so I packed three of them (had packed one last night) and took off without even needing the bike trailer. Drop-offs went fine. I stopped in at H Mart and got a few things, interestingly there were no other bikes in the bike racks - there used to be one and often two besides mine. In fact it was very un-busy in there, with tons of carts out front.

Then I went to Lowe's to get some of those little round things that go under the legs of furniture. That was only $4 and I looked at the tiki torches but didn't see any that looked like they had really outstanding pieces of bamboo on them.

Behind H Mart, in the organic dumpster, I'd found bundles of giant green onions. Not giant bundles, the onions themselves were giant. I see this type at Nijiya all the time and they're kind of expensive. So I grabbed four, two for Tom and two for me.

I stopped by Tom's to drop his off, and he gave me some shiitake mushrooms he'd frozen in a gallon bag. We talked a bit, and I think he'd been drinking because he gets more emotional when he's been drinking. For the longest time, since I'd stopped drinking, I'd never seen him drink a beer, maybe because he felt embarrassed or felt like it would tempt me. But yesterday and today, he'd kept the cans of beer going, grabbing a fresh one as soon as he drained the one he was working on. Pace maybe 4 beers an hour?

So he's drinking his beers, and telling me about some weird non-profit thing he'd gotten going, and it was OK to talk about except he'd got vehement about how "life" would get in the way, his day job, etc. I noticed also that he has the bulging belly button ascites thing going on again too.

I think he drinks the way I did; maintain during the day and then when work's done it's game on. Since this was near the end of his day, he probably tucked into the brandy as soon as  I was off.

I didn't find anything in the bountiful dumpster today but stuff there comes and goes...

Cold and foggy Friday

I woke up around 11, and even around noon it's foggy and dark.  I should mention that "dead internet theory", the theory that...
