I woke up at 4:30. I had time to pack one large, heavy thing and 3-4 small ones and get out of here in time.
I found plenty of packing stuff and goodies on the way back to it was a "good day" going both ways, a good day defined as "using all, or almost all, of my bungee cords" in fact I even went back out for a 2nd serving from the medical dumpster, and used tons of bungee cords for that load, too.
Once I was all done with that and the bike trailer empty, I set to work on the pile of stuff the cleaning guys had left out. Tons of stuff went into the salt place's and HVAC place's dumpsters, and the two biggest pieces went out by Bayshore. The parking lot is all spic and span now.
I got in here and fried some red bell pepper and eggs, in butter. Yum! Plus iced black chicory coffee to wash it down.
I *had* practiced last night and started a load of laundry, and need a hair cut. In light of that, I did a rubbing alcohol hair wash out front. Douse hair in rubbing alcohol, scrub really well, rinse, repeat. This cleaned out junk and salt and sand and so on, but doesn't dry the hair out too much so it's ideal for the clippers. And it didn't take nearly as much rubbing alcohol as I thought it would.
I'd noticed when I got up that my water filter is really slow, which means it's time to replace it. I thought a bit and realized that with a year left, I don't need to buy any more filters. The three I have left will last just fine. Likewise I don't need to buy socks, bike tires, or a lot of things. I don't need new (used) Doc Martens as the pair I have will last especially as next summer I plan to wear slippers as much as I can to prepare for life back home.
It's almost like being old and knowing you're going to die in a year so a ton of things you plan ahead for, you don't need to plan for any more. I sure won't need any winter clothes back home, and there are tons of things I'm not taking because I'll just buy those things when I get there.
Ken came by the usual time and I got my pay check, so that's good. We talked for an hour or so as is also usual. Among the many things we talked about, I asked if Suzy, his wife, is still a travel agent and he said she's not doing that much any more "just likes to do her puzzles and things" so I said I'm actually considering joining AAA in 2024 because they have a lot of perks and have a travel service.
This is good to get clear about, because I'd been told I could fly on Jet Blue cheaply or even for free, because Ken's daughter works there. So I'd been thinking I'd be sort of expected to go back to Hawaii that way. But, I know Ken's side business here is going to collapse and end up costing him money once I leave, so I've not wanted to have any more "connections" to Ken and his family than necessary. I know at least on the subconscious level they're going to be angry that I left.
So this gets it out into the open. Not that I ever wasn't, but now I'm free to choose my own way to go back.
