Good to be back

I stayed up all night, finding and packing things, getting 10 things ready to list, etc. I also got the bike sorted out, I hope. I put the more worn tire on the front, the newer one on the back, and replaced the tube that had been in the back tire, in which I think the Slime had dried out. The hole turned out to be a tiny but leaky one, and unless the tube had gotten turned around, was on the inner edge of the tube.

Come to think of it, I think Slime is only good for a year or so; you're supposed to add more or change out the tube or something.

In any case I got it all together and at about 10AM I took off with the post office stuff, and even though it was about 10:30 in the morning, the chute was jamming, of course. I grabbed a tray and started to load my packaged into that, but the guy who's usually at the center counter space during the day was there and opened up the side door where the chute is and had me dump my packages in the bin. So it worked out.

I was going to go to 99 Ranch but thought about it and realized there isn't anything there I need that H Mart doesn't have. So I went to H Mart and spent $63 buying stuff. The organic dumpster behind the place which I checked out after shopping was full of fruit but no veg other than one lonely pepper.

For some reason last night, the huge green dumpster was put back in place and thus the zombies were very much at large. I actually thought of going out at something like 2AM to dump some trash and check out the bountiful dumpster, but just as I was thinking that, I heard a car engine right outside here and heard zombie voices - it was Crazy Chrissie in her junkmobile yelling at another zombie, I guess. I watched on the video camera and she went over to the dumpster and 2-3 other zombies milled around.

This is not to say zombies are not out during the day, but with so many working human beings around, they are not nearly as much of a problem.

It's good to be on the bike again.

I got back from the post office and shopping run, relaxed here and had some coffee and peanuts to try to perk myself up again, and finally decided to just go on ahead and take the FedEx stuff to FedEx plus get rid of two bags of trash. So that's what I did. And I got a bunch of cabbage leaves around back.

On the way back I got a yogurt drink from the falafel place and found a few useful boxes and the lighting place was throwing out a lot of those metal hooks that hook into perforated backboard and you hang things for sale from - a lot of them even still have Klein Tools tags. Ken keeps talking about setting up something like that, so I grabbed those.

I was waiting at a light and happened to look down at my front tire and ... there's a big cut in it. That explains that flat, I guess. Plus, the tire looks, well, tired. It's a funny shape and it's also got cracks from becoming dried out.

So I got back here and ordered another tire. It'll come to Ken's house by the end of the week so I guess I'll get it next week. I should be fine on the one with the cut until then.

I'm negotiating with the guy with the flute I want to buy on Craig's List. It looks like I'm going to meet him sometime Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. At least it looks like I have enough cash on hand to cover it, as after buying the bike tire, I'll be saving very close to zero out of my latest pay check.

Cold and foggy Friday

I woke up around 11, and even around noon it's foggy and dark.  I should mention that "dead internet theory", the theory that...
